The Great Wall of China is one of the most famous historical structures in the world. It was built over several centuries to protect ancient China from invasions. The wall stretches across mountains, valleys and deserts, which makes it an impressive example of human engineering. Although many parts of the wall have been damaged, some sections are still perfectly preserved and attract millions of tourists every year. Visitors can walk along the narrow pathways and enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. Historians say that building the wall required enormous effort and organisation, as thousands of workers took part in the construction. Today the Great Wall is considered a symbol of strength, cultural heritage and national pride. It also reminds people about the importance of protecting historical monuments.
